Learning Goals
4.4 a) estimate products and quotients
of whole numbers;
b) multiply whole numbers;
c) divide whole numbers, finding
quotients with and without remainders; and
d) solve single-step and multistep multiplication
problems with whole numbers.
Vocabulary
Product - the answer in a multiplication equation
Factor - A number that is
multiplied by another to get a product
Quotient - The answer to a division equation
Whole Numbers - a number from the set {0, 1, 2, 3…}
Estimate – Find
a value that is close enough to the
correct answer (key word: about)

In order for students to

equations with ease, they should be fluent in their basic multiplication
and division facts.
